About the Global Peace Film Festival
Martin Luther King, Jr posited that “Peace is not only the absence of conflict, but also the presence of justice.”
Global Peace Film Festival draws together people from all walks of life to be inspired by compelling storytelling and for them then to engage actively within their own lives and communities to make the world a better place than they found it: Watch FIlms. Get Involved. Change Things. Action, engagement and participation are our bywords. We seek stories that make us laugh, think, cry, sit taller in our seats and ask, “What can I do?” We curate experiences pairing films and post-screening events that educate and motivate our audiences. We work closely with local community groups and impact producers to create space for progress and creativity to flourish. GPFF is not a passive exhibition event, but a commitment to building relationships and resources aimed at increasing the presence of justice year round. It starts here.
Traditionally we kick the festival off with a rousing music or sports story to lift spirits and pump up the energy, and end with a film for our interfaith community partners that show the power of good works regardless of your affiliation. During the festival we have opportunities for select films and filmmakers to participate in screenings and discussions with area high school and college-level students. Additionally, we hold community screenings throughout the year featuring festival alumni, work with other festivals and educators around the world and present an online companion festival of shorts curated to provide a window into the festival for audiences unable to join in the event in person.
