DESCRIPTION:The recent Supreme Court decision regarding the use of racial categories in school admissions can seem like a simple proposition reading the headlines regarding the decision. But the issue is not so simple. BLACK TABLE\, from directors John James and Bill Mack\, provides a timely and nuanced examination of the complex issues of identity\, history and merit by following up with students who had attended Yale in the 1990s – women and men making up the largest group of black students in that decade. Their experiences shed light on the value of diversity and inclusion in higher education.

SUMMARY:Invisible Nation
DESCRIPTION:“As China has flexed its power in the region and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has demonstrated the ever-present threat of authoritarian aggression\, INVISIBLE NATION brings focus to the struggle of Taiwan as it fights for autonomy and freedom from fear. \nWith unprecedented access to Taiwan’s sitting head of state\, director Vanessa Hope investigates the election and tenure of Tsai Ing-wen\, the first female president of Taiwan. Thorough\, incisive and bristling with tension\, Invisible Nation is a living account of Tsai’s tightrope walk as she balances the hopes and dreams of her nation between the colossal geopolitical forces of the U.S. and China. SUMMARY:Descolonizarte Teatro Presents Ursula
DESCRIPTION:Ursula tells the journey of Nadia\, a 7-year-old\, separated from her mother at the US-Mexico border. While Nadia waits for her asylum to be processed\, she reflects on the life she left behind in Honduras while reliving the arduous journey to the United States. Through original music\, movement and puppets\, Ursula speaks to the heart of our shared humanity as audiences experience detention and family separation through the eyes of a child trying to make sense of all that is happening around her.
