The recent Supreme Court decision regarding the use of racial categories in school admissions can seem like a simple proposition reading the headlines regarding the decision. But the issue is not so simple. BLACK TABLE, from directors John James and Bill Mack, provides a timely and nuanced examination of the complex issues of identity, history and merit by following up with students who had attended Yale in the 1990s – women and men making up the largest group of black students in that decade. Their experiences shed light on the value of diversity and inclusion in higher education.
