See The Bigger Picture: A Celebration of Women, By American Portrait Artist, Shelly Mosman
CityArts // 39 S. Magnolia Avenue
September 17 through October 10, 2020
In honor of the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment’s passage, granting women the right to vote in the United States, the Global Peace Film Festival has curated a special exhibition dedicated to women featuring works by American Portrait Artist, Shelly Mosman.
See the Bigger Picture is a modern, abstract visual celebration of women that upends the one-sided presentation of females that have been used throughout history. By juxtaposing the past with the present, Mosman’s dramatic images deliver the depth and mystery associated with the Old World Masters’ coloration and gravity.
She maintains intimate emotional contact with each model, exposing the powerful and commanding inner spirit of her subject rather than merely focusing on their alluring features. Viewers are both transfixed and transported by the surreal quality and sense of the sublime that permeates every portrait.
See the Bigger Picture will be on-view at CityArts in Downtown Orlando September 17 through October 10. This exhibition is curated by Shanon Larimer of Larimer & Co. and is funded in part by Orange County Arts and Cultural Affairs and United Arts of Central Florida.
